ERO Report 2016: 'Children's learning, and sense of wellbeing and belonging is enhanced by teachers. Effective teaching practices contribute to high levels of children's meaningful and sustained play.'
We run a child centred programme where we focus on the children's interests and strengths, these are enriched and extended.
Te Whariki (The Early Childhood Curriculum) is the basis for all aspects of our programme which focuses on empowerment, holistic development, family and community and relationship's.
We have a large, natural outdoor environment offering lots of opportunity for exploration and learning through play.
ERO Report 2016: ' Children participate in a programme where there are many opportunities for them to make choices about their play. This is balanced by teacher-led learning and care routines.'
We have a constant teaching team who are passionate and dedicated to working with this age group. The teaching team believe that building positive relationships with the children and their families is pivotal to positive outcomes.
Transition: This can be an exciting time for the children which is acknowledged and fully supported by the teaching team. Teachers are responsive to the children's needs during transition to make it as positive as possible. Children near the age of 3 years begin to visit The Pagoda, usually in a small group, with a familiar teacher.
